Spay/Neuter Services
Please review our services and pricing below (click to expand). As a low-cost clinic, we are able to keep our pricing low through grants, donations, and streamlining our surgical process. As such, we are unable to perform routine spay/neuter surgeries on animals with underlying conditions and we reserve the right to refuse vaccination or surgery if an animal has severe health issues that make surgery or vaccination unsafe, or if an animal’s behavior makes handling by staff dangerous.
Working with a local shelter or rescue organization? Please call our scheduling line to discuss setting up a rescue organization agreement with our clinic before scheduling an appointment.

If your dog requires a presurgical exam, please make a wellness exam appointment at our Wellness Clinic.
**Female dogs that are in heat at the time of spay require an additional $25 charge due to the complexity of the surgery. We recommend that female dogs in heat postpone their spay procedure until 6 weeks after a heat cycle to reduce complications during and after surgery.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is available for feral cats who can return to their original location with a dedicated caretaker. Our TNR package includes:
+ Spay/Neuter
+ Ear tip
+ Rabies vaccine
+ Distemper (FVRCP) vaccine
+ Flea/tick treatment
As of 3/20/2024, TNR services are $25 for local cats (from Chittenden or Grand Isle County), and $100 for non-local cats.
To book a TNR appointment, please call our scheduling line at (802) 923-9028.
Please note that TNR services are only available for feral or outdoor only community cats who will be returned to their original outdoor site with a dedicated caretaker. Cats that are going to be kept indoors and socialized are not eligible for free TNR services and the owner would need to pay the normal surgical fee. If the cat is a stray and you are unsure if they are feral, we can assess the cat when they come in for their appointment. If the cat turns out to be friendly and you would like HSCC to keep the cat and find them a home through our normal adoption processes, we are able to help with that. Otherwise, if the cat is friendly and you wish to keep the cat or rehome it on your own, the normal surgical fee would apply.
Feral cats coming in for TNR appointments must be in a humane trap. Humane traps are available to rent from HSCC with a refundable $75 deposit - call our front desk at (802) 862-0135 or visit our adoption center during open hours for more information.
